Upskilling Initiative, Automating Enrollment in Consumer Support Programs
Venture County Digital Upskilling Initiative
The Economic Development Collaborative (EDC) partnered with Adult Schools, Community Colleges, and nonprofits across Ventura County (Southern California) to develop a curriculum that introduces adult learners to the essential computer skills and confidence they need to access additional opportunities and better jobs.
To date,18 Computer Basics classes have been provided across Ventura County to 327 students in both English and Spanish. The program was formally evaluated by WestEd in the Spring of 2023 and was found to make statistically significant improvements to student computer competency.
The EDC is now seeking partners who want to expand the impact of the program beyond Ventura County by using the replication toolkit. The EDC can provide Train the Trainer support and consulting as needed. Currently the tools are available in English and Spanish.
