November's meeting was designed specifically for King County–based members and organizations, with plenty of time for discussion and connection. We reflected on key takeaways from October's event, shared updates on the upcoming 2026 legislative session and spent time in breakout rooms exploring local priorities such as Digital Skills & Workforce, Devices & Infrastructure, and Community Voice & Policy Influence.

SEPTEMBER 2025 - “AI Safety Awareness Workshop”

 

Join us for a 1 hour workshop focused on AI forecasting and AI safety awareness with a guest speaker Andres Ramirez  from AI Safety Awareness Project. Through interactive demonstrations, group exercises, and discussions we aim to provide a strong understanding of the current AI landscape, and encourage you to envision what the future of AI might look like for you and your community.

 

What’s the current state of AI? In the first portion of the workshop, we will demonstrate the risks, benefits, and current capabilities of widely-available AI systems today.

 

Where will AI be in the next 36 months? The second portion will consist of guided, open-ended discussions, where we will forecast upcoming AI capabilities and developments. We will compare and calibrate these forecasts against some of today’s strongest expert prediction markets.

JULY 2025 - “AI 101 & City of Seattle ”

 

In this DELN learning session, we were joined by Ginger Armbruster, Chief Privacy Officer for the City of Seattle, and Sarah Carrier from the City's Privacy Team, to break down the basics of Artificial Intelligence and explore how local government is engaging with emerging technologies.

This presentation covers:

  • Core terms and types of AI

  • Real-world use cases of AI in public and private sectors

  • How the City of Seattle is approaching AI through policy, equity, and privacy

  • Opportunities and challenges for community-based organizations and practitioners

Library Technology Officer Charles Wesley discusses lessons learned from the Seattle Public Library’s cybersecurity attack in 2024 and shares practical, cost-effective strategies to improve your organization’s cybersecurity readiness, empower staff with best practices, and ensure equitable access to secure digital spaces.

April Mardock, Information Security Officer at Seattle Public Schools presented a train-the-trainer session for digital navigators and anyone working with the community who need to offer up-to-date information about Staying Safe Online.
